Honoring Cecilia Wilkinson’s Legacy, Contributing to Future IR and PR Leaders

Every industry’s future, ours included, is only as strong as the talent stepping into it.

As markets and technologies change, corporations regardless of industry play a pivotal role not just in competing, but in cultivating tomorrow’s leaders.

Many talented students with curiosity and ambition today are looking to the communications sector, from investor relations and strategic public relations to marketing and today’s new journalism. That’s where engagement from firms such as ours becomes more than goodwill, but a strategic investment in the long-term health of our sector.

Now in its 19th year, we are proud to be doing our part with the Cecilia Wilkinson Memorial Scholarship, which annually supports emerging student  leaders in communications.

Awarded each year to a first-year graduate student at USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, the scholarship recognizes excellence in investor relations, reputation management and strategic communications. It honors Cecilia Wilkinson, a founding member of PondelWilkinson, USC alumna and dedicated advocate for the communications industry.

This year’s recipient, Allyson Nicholas, already has gained relevant working experience at GungHo Online Entertainment, a Japan-based video game developer and publisher. Allyson’s work sparked a desire to expand her knowledge of the broad communications sector and ultimately led her to USC Annenberg.

“Receiving this scholarship not only eases the financial commitment of my education but reinforces my confidence in pursuing my career goals,” said Allyson. “I hope to pay this support forward to future students as I continue to grow in this field.”

“Supporting students at the start of their careers is one of the most meaningful ways corporations can give back,” said Roger Pondel, CEO of PondelWilkinson. “This scholarship reflects Cecilia’s wishes and our firm’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent and helping build a strong, skilled future for our industry.”

When corporations actively support students through scholarships, internships, mentorship programs, and hands-on learning opportunities, they don’t just help build individual careers—they help shape a resilient, forward-thinking generation of professionals ready to lead the industry into its next chapter.
