A FinTech company operating in a quickly changing industry, with household name peers, faced the challenge of communicating its story in a compelling and easy-to-understand way. Despite consistent double-digit revenue growth and an active investor outreach program, the stock remained undervalued.
Recognizing the disconnect, an investor perception study was conducted, engaging six sell-side and seven buy-side firms to understand the company’s strategy, leadership, capital allocation and industry risks. The findings drove a substantial overhaul of the company’s messaging.
New messaging was introduced centered on digital transformation and omni-channel growth through a revamped investor presentation at the company’s inaugural Investor Day in New York. More than 40 attendees, despite COVID restrictions, participated, including a customer panel that highlighted the company’s differentiation. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
In the three months following the event, the stock rose more than 30%. Within a year, market capitalization increased nearly 50%.
By understanding investor perceptions, reshaping its narrative, and delivering it effectively, the company overcame industry challenges, gained visibility and created substantial shareholder value.
